Enter the Inviting World of Zentangle!

Developed by founders Rick Roberts and Maria Thomas.
Rick and Maria describe the Zentangle Method as
"an easy-to-learn, relaxing, and fun way to create beautiful images by drawing structured patterns.”

Patterns are broken down into easy-to-follow steps.
Making it possible for anyone to recreate the pattern.
MATERIALS
Black Micron Pen
Typically on 3” x 3” tiles
But tangling is successful with just about any medium anywhere…
on paper of different weight, size or shapes or in journals.
Even on ceramic, glass, or walls!
TANGLE
Draw the repetitive lines and shapes that make up each pattern.
Fill defined spaces on a page with a variety of patterns.
Tangling can be completed in 30 minutes.

INITIAL PATTERNS
The first patterns taught in Zentangle are...
Simple to execute.
Fun to draw.
Pleasing to the eye.

METHOD
Focus on putting one stroke at a time on the page.
Let go of worrying about the outcome.
There is no need to plan ahead.
Don't expect the outcome to look like something in particular.
Be open to the element of surprise.
THERE ARE NO MISTAKES
Unintended marks are incorporated into the overall design.
Lines don't have to be perfect.
Zentangle is more about process than outcome.

GRATITUDE IS ENCOURAGED
For the materials used.
For the surrounding environment.
For the ability to let go of limiting thoughts and go with the flow.
For the drawing you complete.
For the experience.

ZENTANGLE-INSPIRED ART
Incorporates patterns into representational art.

Combining patterns in a methodical way can have a stunning effect.
